McClelland 2020 Mature Cake
« on: May 13, 2017, 09:09:51 PM »
Just had a pipe full of this fresh from the bag, a rich smell of Fermented English from this large shredded flake. I hand rubbed the large shreds and loaded it into the bowl, it was on the moist side so I gave it a longer light. Great tasting, rich smoke, stayed lit to the bottom with black and grey ash and a very small Dottle. It behaved under heavy puffing with light bite. I'm hoping this one make it through the deeming as I like this one and  don't think the 2 oz. sample I got is going to last long.

And it seems well liked on Tobacco Review.  You're in good company.

I'd probably try folding it as I do most flakes.  I know what you mean about some flakes being hard to rub out.  Looks like it leans toward the oriental more than many of the stronger English mixes.

I think you have smoked some Stokebeye English Luxury or Newminster Luxus.  How do they compare with these not being flake?

I'd say I like this as much as the Newminster, The Stokkeby is not as good to me. (Not that I dislike the PS and will be smoking all 3.)

Thanks for your insights, both of you.

I must try this one.
