humidor advice!
« on: July 30, 2012, 11:45:43 PM »
Hey guys and girls,

Up until now Iv just purchased them from the tobacconist, taken them home and smoked them! (any left over going in a glass jar with a little humidifier)

But the tobacconist has closed, and I'm going to have to think about buying on-line stock piling some at home.....so humidor time!

So recommendations for entry level brands? DIY?

Also looking for recommendation for a replacement to my increasingly hit and miss "goto" Monte Cristo no.4
(really like the spicy smooth coffee flavours)

Well that would certainly make life much easier!

Worth putting in a little fan to regulate even humidity?

And was also wondering as I live right by the sea, will sea air will be a problem (it eats all the tools win my workshop!).

Here's my setup Brook,

No fan in this, I just rotate once every couple of months.  I have one of those throw-away glad sandwich containers with slits cut in the top, florist foam inside and soaked with a 50/50 of distilled water and propylene glycol usp (keeps down the mold on the foam).  Works great!!!  When looking for a cooler, just be sure you have a nice, tight fit in the lid.  You can, and I do, keep some of the cigars in their boxes for the cedar.
